Anthony is the most amazingly impossible teenager to wake up. We have tried several different alarm clocks but he usually sleeps right through them. We typically have to go in his room, shake him vigorously while repeatedly yelling “Wake Up!” And then when we go back in a few minutes later, he is sound asleep once again. It’s so aggravating.
So after a particularly frustrating morning, I searched “annoying alarm clocks” on Amazon and found the Sonic Alert, which reaches 113 decibels and has a powerful bed vibrator that you stick under the mattress. There are 177 5-star reviews stating that this is the only alarm clock that has ever worked for hundreds of people, including countless difficult teenagers. So I decided it was worth a shot. I think Anthony really needs to learn how to wake up on his own before he moves out of our house, which hopefully will be in a just a few short years.
Here is Day Two with his new alarm clock (Day One he had to get up extra early and I was not yet out of bed to videotape the event).
The alarm does not sound nearly as loud as it actually is. And if you listen carefully and turn up the volume, you can hear the vibration of the disk under his mattress, rhythmically shaking the bed. I know the vibration alone would wake me up.
Now, we just need to work on actually getting him to sit up and head for the shower after he’s up. Does anybody have a device for that?

Good luck……
Maybe he needs to go to bed earlier…..
I am such a light sleeper I can’t imagine anyone being that hard to wake.
Too funny!
Oh my gosh. That’s amazing. It has to be the most annoying alarm clock noise I’ve ever heard.
I was the same way when I was a kid. Once I joined the military (where being late for work will screw up your entire life) I bought the most obnoxious clock I could find and put it next to the bedroom door. I had to get out of bed to turn it off. That helped.
WOW!! Really?! Amazing…
LOL I can’t believe you video taped that. I’d like to know how it works in two weeks. Will he get use to getting up or will he get use to the sound and sleep right through it?
We might need to get this for the girls.
LOL….I have it so easy….Colin gets up by himself with his alarm on his iPod Touch.
